Database Observability: Capacity and Growth

The Database Observability: Capacity and Growth dashboard shows which databases and objects are growing, how WAL volume changes, and which tables autovacuum cannot keep up with.

Who it is for: database administrators, operations engineers, and capacity planners.

Data sources: db_metrics*, db_logs*.

Main Sections

1. Capacity Summary

Shows key growth metrics:

  • current database size, growth over the selected period, and a forecast for seven days ahead
  • XID consumption and the highest proportion of dead tuples
  • trends in database size, WAL, and XID
