Resource-Service Model

Let's consider the Resource-Service Model (RSM), which is a set of data for monitoring metric states. RSM includes interconnected metrics and indicators that help understand the current state of the observed object at various levels of abstraction.

RSM helps establish automated compliance assessment for meeting regulatory or corporate requirements for information security or IT service levels.

Upon agreement with the client, the module can be customized to monitor compliance with any set of regulatory requirements or corporate standards.

Functional Characteristics

Using the Resource-Service Model

For real-time compliance assessment, the basic tool of the Core module is the resource-service model. Control of protection measures is carried out using compliance tree metrics. The indicators at the top levels of the tree provide current compliance assessment values for subprocesses and processes. These values are used in subsequent steps to calculate final compliance coefficients.

Interpreting Compliance Assessment Results

When information gathering is configured and RSM metrics are regularly collected, and calculations are done, the obtained information needs to be communicated to responsible parties for further action. It is suggested to work with the information in the form of familiar dashboards with visual panels or dynamic articles allowing to enrich visual panels with necessary descriptions. For this purpose, integration with the Core component - Knowledge Center is configured.

Metrics in RSM

A metric is an element of RSM that reflects the state of the monitoring object at the first level. It is calculated based on the logic of data sources and can take various states depending on the configured thresholds.

Metrics can be calculated using confidence intervals. Confidence intervals are calculated in search queries. For example, using avg or stdev functions.

Indicators in RSM

Indicators, in turn, are higher-level indicators calculated based on metric values and other indicators. They are located at different levels in the RSM tree, forming a structure.

To obtain more information about the state of metrics and indicators, you can click on them in the RSM tree and access additional information on the visual panel or search query.

Visual Representation

On the main dashboard of the RSM component, it is displayed as a tree of indicators.

The RSM tree is interactive. To view the states of lower-level indicators and metrics on which the states of indicators depend, you can click on the corresponding indicator.
